Abstract

The Inv antigenicity of a κ light polypeptide chain is related to a single genetic site located at position 191 in the constant region of the molecule. The demonstration that selective cleavage of a κ light chain into its constituent variant half and constant half resulted in a concomitant loss of Inv antigenicity reflected the dependency of Inv antigenicity upon the structural integrity of the κ light polypeptide chain.
