Abstract

Although many factors have been shown to influence FAB spectra, matrix effects are perhaps the most important and spectra have been enhanced by the addition of inorganic salts and by changing the solution matrix. Perhaps of more fundamental concern is FAB source design and its effect on beam intensity and the directional characteristics of the beam. This paper describes the determination of the divergence angle of the ion neutral beam emitting from a laboratory constructed saddle field ion/neutral bombardment source.
