Equations for the calculation of mean ejection pressure

Abstract

Two simple equations for the calculation of mean ejection pressure (MEP) are described and compared with true MEP determined by manual planimetry. The equations were tested and found to have a high degree of correlation with true MEP over a wide range of peak systolic pressures, pulse pressures, and heart rates in humans and several animal species.
