Abstract

AUTHORS' SYNOPSIS: Two simple equations for the calculation of mean ejection pressure (MEP) are described and compared with true MEP determined by manual planimetry. The equations were tested and found to have a high degree of correlation with true MEP over a wide range of peak systolic pressures, pulse pressures, and heart rates in humans and several animal species.
