Abstract

Myocardial ischemia and infarction are among the most common manifestations of cocaine-related heart disease. Coronary vasospasm has been suggested as the proximate cause of cocaine-mediated ischemia1-6. We performed ergonovine testing in patients with cocaine-related ischemic symptoms to see if coronary spasm occurred, and also used forearm plethysmography to determine if these patients have a generalized disorder of vascular reactivity, as occurs in microvascular angina7.
