Abstract

Various forms of exercise are known to produce a self-limited attack of asthma in most asthmatics. Occasionally exercise may be the only provoking factor inducing asthma. One case of asthma induced by exercise and laughter is presented. These episodes could be reproduced in the laboratory by running on the spot and also following laughter. Exercise induced bronchoconstriction could be prevented by prior administration of salbutamol and cromolyn sodium.
