Abstract

A methanol extract from black locust heartwood was compared with pentachlorophenol and chromated copper arsenate for preservative effectiveness. In a ten week study the black locust extract, loaded to 32.0 mg/cc, completely inhibited the decay of aspen and southern pine by Gloeophyllum irabeum or Pleurotus ostreatus.
