Abstract

This article outlines the basic features and applications of magnetoencephalography (MEG) as a functional brain imaging tool and summarizes the most consistent results from a series of experimental and clinical studies. Empirical evidence is reviewed that attests to the concurrent validity, reproducibility, and spatial and temporal resolution of MEG. The method is well suited for the study of the intrinsic dynamics of the brain circuits that support basic linguistic functions.
