Abstract

The purpose of this article is to emphasize the critical importance of the preseason for progressively elevating player fitness to aid in reaching peak performance for the initial period of the competitive season. This article also briefly describes critical physiological demands of competitive soccer, which must be understood if the strength and conditioning coach is going to devise a program that will produce improved performance.
