Abstract

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and preeclampsia-eclampsia are two conditions that may occur during pregnancy with hematologic abnormalities, fluctuating neurological signs, hypertension, and renal disease. Two patients with this constellation of signs and symptoms are described. They illustrate the similarities in presentation and the resultant diagnostic difficulties. A methodical approach toward differential diagnosis and management is delineated.
